Foothills Taekwon-Do Club History

Foothills Taekwon-Do moved to the Whitlock Recreation Center in Lakewood, CO in September 2011. Please click here for details. The instructors at Foothills have taught women and men of all ages for over 40 years. Originally in the dungeon of the Carmody/Foothills Recreation Center, the club moved when the center closed for renovations in 2000.  There was a brief stint at what was formerly known as the Gymnastica Training facility on 44th and Kipling (currently operating as 5280 Gymnastics). The club moved to the Point Athletic club from 2003 through 2010.

The club has been under the helm of Master Dennis Swan since 2003/2004.

The Foothills mascot, Froggy, has evolved from a simple drawing, to the club patch and even a stuffed mascot who used to travel to tournaments until he retired. Froggy has been internationally recognized, and has traveled across the globe in various competitions, both physically and in spirit. Foothills Taekwon-Do has trained students for national and internation competition. Students have been awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from all across the globe to decorate the “halls.”

In 2006, Foothills was able to reinstitute a training program through the Shiloh Home for Boys. This is a residential program that helps young boys become more mature, responsible, and confident in their abilities. Initially started in 1990, the Taekwon-Do program fell into some difficult situations and was terminated. Now the Shiloh TKD program has classes for many of the students. There are over 30 students training in Littleton, and about 5-10 students training from the northern campuses.
