Welcome to Foothills Taekwon-Do

Welcome to the Foothills TKD blogsite. We have links and pages on various social networks. We are always looking for input and features to add to this site. Please feel free to send an email to webmaster@foothillstkd.org and we will most certainly take your ideas into consideration.

Taekwon-Do is the Korean art and practice of kicking and punching. It was created by General Choi Hong Hi during the Korean/Japan war in the 1950′s and made the official martial arts of Korea in 1955. Foothills has taught the traditional form of Taekwon-Do since the late 70′s. The instructors have changed over that time, however, the dedication to keep the tradition alive has not.

Master Dale Burkhart, the third instructor at Foothills, and the Head instructor for the Shiloh Home for boys was promoted to VIII Dan Black Belt on March 28, 2009. The current Head Instructor for Foothills, Master Dennis Swan, has been teaching and training with Master Burkhart and Foothills since he started. He is a VII Dan Black Belt and will be promoted to VIII Dan in the Fall of 2011.

2009 marked the 40th anniversary of Foothills Taekwon-Do. Please go to our Memories page to (re)tell stories of how Foothills changed you. If you’ve never been to a weblog (a.k.a. “Blog”) this is the time. It’s basically an online journal, forum, chat board, etc. where anyone can find you and everyone can see you. Blogs are a great way to connect to old friends, find new friends and connect through various interests. Welcome to Foothills in the future.
